Kings had set up their thrones through this desolate terrain; empires had risen and fallen under the might of armies stretching their blades across it. Little evidence remained to mark these climactic events, just a spear here or a helmet there. The graves of nomads, piles of broken rocks and disheveled trees, were the only memories etched permanently onto this desolation.
